Obituary of Janet Louise Jaquays

FLORIDA-LITTLE FALLS - Janet Louise Jaquays (Petelin-Welch), 74, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully, on October 11, 2021, after a heroic two year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on October 29, 1947, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Louis and Frances Petelin. Janet was educated in the Little Falls schools and obtained an Associates Degree from Alfred Tech. Her career and life offered her the opportunity to live in many places including Virginia, Kansas and Germany but she longed for home and moved back in 1983 where she worked for 30 years as a Laboratory Technician at the Little Falls Hospital. Janet’s life was centered around the love she had for her family and friends. She cared for so many with her life. She had an amazing spirit, incredible determination and many talents. She was an expert quilter, each quilt she made was a work of art, precision, and love. She enjoyed card playing, music and dancing the polka. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Paul Jaquays. She is survived by her children, Lance Welch and wife, Helena, (Ashburn, VA), Shawn Welch, (Chicago, IL), Branden Jaquays, (Little Falls, NY), Jennifer (Michael) DeCarlis, (Little Falls, NY) and Bridget (Chris) Jaquays, (Whitesboro, NY). She was Grandma JJ to Kahlan and Landon Welch, Gramma Jam to Marissa and Alexis DeCarlis and Grandma to Brady. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica (David) Baum, (Pen Yan, NY), Mary (Richard) Laubenstein, (Jamesville, NY); brother, Louis (Theresa) Petelin, (Livonia, NY); as well as many nephews and nieces. A calling hour will take place on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, NY and a Funeral Service, at 11:00 a.m., at the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of John & East Main Streets, Little Falls, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
