Obituary of Beverly A. Murdock

SCHUYLER – Mrs. Beverly Wiegand Murdock, 79, of 164 McKennan Road, Frankfort, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 2, 1942 and raised in Schuyler by loving parents, the late Raymond and Mary (Dempsey) Wiegand. Beverly was educated in West Canada Valley Schools and remained a lifelong resident of Schuyler, New York. On December 3, 1960, she wed Stanley Murdock, her high school sweetheart, at St. John’s Church in Newport, New York. Beverly was employed as a teacher’s assistant with Frankfort-Schuyler School District while she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Syracuse University at Utica College. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Reading from SUNY Cortland. Upon graduating, Mrs. Murdock became a teacher in the Little Falls School District, where she worked until her retirement in 2003. Teaching was her passion. She was dedicated to her students, not only in English 10 class, but as the advisor of the school newspaper and class advisor. Mrs. Murdock was a beloved member of the Little Falls School community. Outside of the classroom, she usually had a book in her hand or a pen to correct any grammar or spelling errors she encountered! At home, Beverly enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers, especially her rose bushes. With a heart of gold, she was always looking out for others, donating when she could and even sending anonymous donations to those she knew were struggling. Truly an angel on earth, she appreciated the beauty in all things. Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Murdock; daughter, Suzanne Murdock Rodio; son, Stanley Murdock and wife, Denise and her son, Zachary. She adored her grandchildren, who lit up her life, Christopher Judson, Carli Rodio, Michael Rodio, Melynda Murdock, Joseph Rodio and Alexandra Murdock. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary; brother, Joseph Wiegand; sisters, Marie (Wiegand) Lindsay, Helen (Wiegand) Parmer, Reta Wiegand; and Mother and father-in-law, Harold and Bridget Murdock. The family would like to express their appreciation to Sitrin Health Care Center (Hawthorn House) and the staff that provided great care during the past year and treated her as family; St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Upstate University Hospital for their outstanding patient care and coordination; Hospice and the Abraham House, Rome for their compassion and support during those last days. We invite family and friends to join us for a very special Memorial Service that we have planned to take place in the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday evening, July 28, 2021, at 6:30 PM, with Rev. Chris Schumske, officiating. The funeral home is located at 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion (Town of Frankfort). A private interment service will take place the following day at East Schuyler Cemetery. Although there are no calling hours, a family dinner will take place Wednesday evening as well and will be announced at the conclusion of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to support the Abraham House, 417 N. Washington St., Rome, NY 13440, in appreciation of their outstanding service to families and the community. In honor of Beverly, continue to spread kindness and contribute to a caring and compassionate world. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Beverly’s family has entrusted all arrangements to friends Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea (student) and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home (315) 894-8000. There is an opportunity to offer an online condolence at the funeral home website www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
