Obituary of Robert F. Gartner

STERLING, VIRGINIA – Robert F. Gartner, 76, a native of Little Falls, New York, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Reston Hospital Center, Reston, Virginia.

 

He was born September 9, 1943, in Little Falls, the son of the late Frank & Mary (Yestremski) Gartner and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. He was an Electrical Engineering graduate of Johns Hopkins University and worked for Lockheed Martin and several other defense contractors during his career.

 

Bob enjoyed his family outings at Keyser Lake and became an accomplished water-skier. He also enjoyed snow skiing and sailing. Bob was a proficient dancer. He used his dancing and technical talents to create and market on-line instructional software for square dancing. He was always kind and generous and sought to share his talents with others.

 

Survivors include his loving companion, Mary (“Mike”) Anderson; a sister and brother in law, Carole Ehlinger and husband, Jim, of Colts Neck, New Jersey; nieces and nephews, Christine McDonough and husband, Dan, Catherine Ehlinger, and James Ehlinger, Jr. and wife, Regina; and grand-nieces, Allison, Megan, and Katelyn McDonough and Maxine Ehlinger.  His aunt, Mimi Gartner also survives, living in Herkimer.

 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Robert’s funeral service on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 11:00AM at Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls, where his Funeral Mass will be offered by Rev. Brian Slezak, Pastor. Procession will follow to St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Herkimer, where Robert will be laid to rest with his parents.
