Obituary of Rose Bellino

FRANKFORT - Mrs. Rose (DiGristina) Bellino, age 92, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, early Friday morning, December 29, 2017, at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center.

Born on March 5, 1925, Rose was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Guarniere) Di Gristina. She was raised locally and received her education from Frankfort schools. On September 14, 1946, Rose was wed to Mr. Charles A. “Hafey” Bellino, and together they raised a family and shared in 29 years of marriage, until Hafey’s untimely passing on December 31, 1975.

Rose was a hardworking and independent woman who strived to provide the best for herself and for her family. At one time she was employed with Manhattan Fashions, the Dolgeville shoe factory and with Nichols Department Store. Most recently, she worked as an Event Specialist for P&S Sterns, providing food samples and demonstrations at various grocery stores throughout the Mohawk Valley, finally retiring well into her eighties.

In her free time, Rose kept busy taking care of her home. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and was a renowned talent in the kitchen; always cooking and baking for those she loved, as they gathered around her table. She enjoyed playing the game of bingo and loved to bet the horses! First and foremost, in her heart, however, was her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her everything, and they will forever keep her memory and legacy close to them. Rose was devoted to her Catholic faith as a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, and instilled her faith and values in her cherished family.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dominick and Ida Bellino of Frankfort. Always close to her heart was the memory of her beloved daughter, Mary Bellino VanDusen, who pre-deceased her on March 30, 1998. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Renee Minasov of Frankfort, Michele and Jeff Kroeger of Palm Harbor, FL, Dominick, Jr. and Andrea Bellino of Frankfort, Charlie and Jenny Bellino of Marcy, Cristina Bellino and Michael Bellino, both of Frankfort; her great-grandchildren, Cody Sheer, Connor Koppany, Hailey Koppany, Grace Koppany, Mary Kroeger, Carter Kroeger, Luca Bellino, Adrianna Bellino, Aiden Bellino, Hannah Bellino and Charlie Bellino, Jr.; her sisters and brother-in-law, Neva Volo of Little Falls and Florence and Carmen Cardarelli of Frankfort; her brother, Joseph DiGristina of Herkimer; her in-laws, Frank DiSpirito, Josephine DiGristina and Mary DiGristina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, husband and daughter, Rose was predeceased by her sister, Joanne DiSpirito, her brothers, Charles DiGristina and Salvatore DiChristina, and in-laws, Marie DiGristina. Nebo Volo, Marley and Jennie Bellino, Zep and Rosie Bellino, Catherine and Joseph Pianella, Mary and Sam Gallo, and George and Day Bellino.

A very special thank you is extended to Rose’s caregivers on the 2nd Floor of the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, for the care and compassion shown to Rose and her family throughout her stay there.
