Obituary of Vena "Peggy" D. Greene

MOHAWK – Vena “Peggy” D. Greene, age 92, formerly of Elizabeth St., Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on May 6, 1924, in Plainfield Center, NY, the daughter of Lynn and Vivian (Sprauge) Hall, and attended Edmeston and Burlington Green schools. On January 24, 1942, she was married to Jay F. Greene in Edmeston. He passed away on February 12, 2003. At one time, Peggy was employed at Duofold Co. in Mohawk. Most of her life, she was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her 3 sons, Jay R. Greene, of Middleville, Edward W. Greene, of Ilion, and Donald F. Greene; nine grandchildren, Avery Greene and his wife, Amanda, Jason Greene, Aaron Greene, Stacie Shedd and her husband, Matt, Lauren Traut and her husband, Tim, Senan Greene, Brendan Greene and his wife, Jennifer, Tanya Brown and her husband, and Heidi Greene and her husband, Bill; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Cherry Tucker, of Ilion; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Frank E. Greene, and her brother, Roland Hall. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Friday, December 9, 2016, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West St., Ilion, NY. Peggy’s Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following the visitation on Friday, December 9, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home at 102 West St., Ilion. Spring interment will be in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls, next to her husband, Jay.
